Distance Assistance Fund

DUPA has adopted the equity principle that dance leaders and leaders-in-training who live in areas remote from the annual retreat location shall be offered assistance towards the ongoing increased cost of travel to and from the event.

This is in accordance with the stated purposes of our Australian network.

The retreat is the designated event for our gathering as a regional community of dancers and dance leaders.  It is also the place for dance leader deepening, and the forum for decision-making for the general membership of the Australian network.

The following guidelines apply:

Ø      It is sourced from donations and tithes and advertised within the dance network, along with the Fatah Fund and any other specific funds as a  place to offer donations; if necessary, allowance is made for distance assistance from within general DUPA funds when preparing the annual network budget

Ø      It is offered to dance leaders and leaders-in-training who are currently active within their local dance communities for attendance at the Australian DUP annual gathering

Ø      The amount given is to the value of not more than half the cost of travel to a maximum of $100 for those living more than 600km’s and less than 2000km’s from the place of retreat and $200 for those living more than 2000km’s from the place of retreat (ie. if share of petrol money to attend a retreat is only $80, then regardless of the distance travelled, only $40 is given; similarly if airfare is $350 from a place more than 2000km’s away, then only $175 is given)

Ø      Note signifying request for assistance to be forwarded with retreat registration showing anticipated cost of travel

Ø      Retreat registrar to keep separate record of total distance assistance amount which will be forwarded to treasurer and reported on in annual financial statement

Ø      These guidelines be reviewed in four years time
